Hi guys! I'm sorry I've pretty much been MIA for a week or so. Between my s/o coming home from a vacation and a horse emergency, it's been a little crazy around here! I ended up running around trying to figure out how I was going to a. financially support another horse and b. where I was going to /put/ said horse, I've been stretched a little thin, but I made it work! I ended up rescuing one of my previous horses that I sold seven years ago to a family as their family horse. She was a 20 year old ottb who had a lot of life left and she taught their daughters to ride. Well, the daughters grew up, and then the parents got older and started having medical issues and, to put it bluntly, they just stopped taking care of her. I saw her two years ago at a show, being ridden while skin and bones and absolutely dead lame. I told them at the show that if they ever couldn't care for her again, that she always had a home with me. Well, a few days ago, there's a message on the answering machine, and after a call back, we found out he was going to get rid of her either way, and there was no way he could sell her because she now had arthritis as was "useless". I couldn't live with myself if she had ended up on a meat buyers truck, so I brought the old girl home. I'll be bringing her back to health, and she'll live out the rest of her days with me.

I've posted some photos for a few of my watchers to get an insight into a bit of my personal life away from art.

These images were taken right off the trailer. She's been wormed with the best wormer money can buy, so let's hope that'll clear up some of that wormy belly! The big grandma is already looking much better after being brushed!

she is now "grandma" as i like to call her instead of "star" so whenever i walk out to the barn and she nickers like crazy i just go "hi, grandma, don't worry i'm getting you food" it's p great

I really don't understand why people care less about their horse when they have them longer and longer. There are enough people that would take great care for a horse.
I'm really glad you got her back tho ^^ hope she gets better and happy soon with you ^^

i do know they loved her dearly, they just didn't put all the effort into
taking care of her or her needs. for a horse that's going on 27 this year, she
wasn't even on senior feed. she had access to a round bale that wasn't covered
so it had been rained on and was in the mud, so there wasn't a lot of
nutritional value there, and she hasn't had her teeth done in seven years lmao!!!!!!!!
i'm going to take photos on sunday to show her week progress! i'll post them c:

ahhhh I can't understand how they'd let her get SO bad before asking for help with her. This is just unacceptable and obvious neglect. I am really glad you've made it work so that she can give her the chance to feel better, because oww my heart goes out to her.

yeah he's been in a nursing home for over two months
like you KNEW i said i'd take her back why not ask me two months ago?
none the less, at least he called and didn't just let her waste all the way away
five horses is a little hard so i'll be doing lots of sales lmao hoping to plow through my art list
since this semester isn't really all that difficult!

Ahhh yeah, that's so frustrating tbh. :shakefish:
but yeah, I am sure you'll be able to cope and get through it! You're amazing with art and should be able to make lots off of it. <3

Oh my gosh O_O that hoof looks like it was badly injured - or she had a HUGE abscess blow out at the top years ago.
I am so glad you have her back <3

i consulted my farrier and he believes it's an old bulb injury
that's almost all grown out. i should take a picture of all of her feet
she's got a massive amount of heel left with no toes to counter balance so she's just standing up on nubs, really
and with her joints being the way they are, it has to be uncomfortable. she
also has a knot on her knee (her arthritis) that makes her leg bow a little
to the side so i'm hoping my farrier can at least get her angles good enough
to where she's comfortable. it's going to be a long road, but i'm in it
for the long haul!!
